Happy Memorial Day!

We always love the days Shaun is home from work--I look at it as an opportunity to have a break, the kids are excited to have a playmate for the day, and Shaun is all about sleeping in, playing guitar, checking out all his fave conservative guys online, and sleeping some more on the couch. Obviously there must be compromise, so we decided to go up the mountain and enjoy the day as a family.

We found this fun park and let the kids explore the flora and fauna with their magnifying glasses. They were engrossed looking at flowers, lizards, and insects until Shaun demonstrated how to burn objects with the glass, and from there on out my sweet explorers were like Sid from "Toy Story," trying to fry anything that moved. Naughties! Afterwards we went to the AIT pool, a private pool in a beautiful mountain setting, and had fun playing "chicken"--girls against boys. We were the only ones there and were loving it until Sadie decided enough was enough and it was time to head home. We look forward to spending as much time as possible up there this summer to escape the sweaty heat of the city--and I'm sure millions of our Chinese brothers and sisters have the same idea. . . .
